Nylon hammocks are stronger than cotton yet soft, elastic and lusterous, their comfort is hard to beat. Bay Hammocks hand weaves these hammocks from 100% industrial strength nylon. The yarn used is the same yarn used to make fishing net for the local fishing industry. It is meant to be in and out of salt water. in the sunshine, wet and dry. It is built to last yet the rope is very soft and silky to the touch.
We make our nylon rope with 8 strands of yarn braided aroung a centre core. Small nicks and cuts in one strand will not weaken the integrity of the braid.

Established in 1998, The Bay Hammock Company is located just south of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in the spectacular Peggy's Cove Coastal Region. We are very lucky to operate our business in this area, taking inspiration from both the beauty around us and the talented artisans who live here. Our hammocks are made by local artisans who are familiar with the province’s tradition of fishing and net making and have pride in the work they do and take the time to do the job right. All our hammocks are hand made and for some we even make our own rope and weave the hammock bed - these are the crème de la crème of our hammocks and we are very proud of them.
At the Bay Hammock Company our focus is on quality, comfort and customer service. That is why we make the rope for our best hammocks ourselves. This allows us to build in the strength required for a long life and yet maintain the softness of weave required for comfort. All rope is treated for UV and mildew protection.
