Look carefully at the Columbo dining room table and you will see something very interesting. Unlike most tables, the legs are not on the corners. They are underneath the table and support the weight as pedestals. Where this becomes useful is when you have extra guests. No one has to worry about sitting at the corner of the table and hitting the table legs. With an extension that brings the table out to 86 inches, you can fit eight guests comfortably around the Columbo table. (3 on each side and 2 on the ends.) Without the extension it becomes a more intimate setting for 6.
