All Moonlight Slumber mattresses are manufactured with a premium, waterproof fabric therefore, you do not need to use mattress pads or waterproof covers. This fabric is smooth to the touch, warms under your baby, resists cracking and crunching and can be cleaned with a damp sponge.
Although all children progress differently, in general we recommend that you flip your Starlight mattress from the infant side to the toddler side when your child is approximately nine months old. This is the age that most babies move freely about their crib, becoming mobile and pulling themselves up to a standing position. However, should you notice your child becoming restless during the night or naptime, it may be a sign that they are ready for the less firm toddler side even if they haven't reached nine months.
The Starlight Support and the Starlight Support Supreme mattresses are constructed exactly the same with one exception: the Supreme has a layer of visco elastic memory foam on the toddler side. When you flip the Supreme, you flip from extra firm to a layer of visco elastic memory foam. When you flip the Starlight Support, you flip from extra firm to firm.
All-foam and innerspring mattresses have different cores: the foam mattresses have a core made entirely of foam while the innerspring models have an innerspring coil core. Each spring is then wrapped on all sides, top, and bottom with foam, creating foam encapsulated innerspring. A top and bottom layer of foam are added to create dual firmness comfort.
Moonlight Slumber uses an all-natural, patent-pending, internal fire barrier. It is made of inherently fireproof materials with no topically applied chemicals, retardants or other additives. Moonlight Slumber mattresses are 16 CFR Part 1633 compliant, meaning they are fire resistant. In independent testing, they have been proven to withstand open flame.
